"What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?"
- 1 Corinthians 5:12 (NIV)
We are called to test and
discern all things. To look and see the fruit of not only our own lives but also the state of the church (meaning the assembly of those that follow the way of The Christ).
However, those that hide in
darkness do so because their deeds are evil and they would like to hide them from those that walk in the light.
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."
- Matthew 7:15
When you corner a wild wolf you can be sure that the aforementioned wild wolf will bite, claw, rip and generally be very fierce and deadly.
The same can be said for the wolves hidden within the church dressed as
sheep.
It is many times worse when the wolf manages to become the
leader.
You should expect to be able to challenge a good leader on what has been said. After all, as it is written, correct a
wise man and he will thank you for it. However, a wolf will bite your head off.
That's the first clue about your leader. If the
leadership team that should be guarding the sheep are, in fact, ravenous wolves then the discerning believer would be very foolish to remain a moment longer.
Through one man
sin entered the world bringing
death and this death spread to all men. In the same way for a church corruption can enter through one man and from corruption spiritual death - a death which spreads to all, as it has always done.
I regret to tell the wise Christian but it is very likely that for exposing darkness the reward might be eviction from the church group, and potentially loss of all but the best kind of friends from within. In the same way a descenter in a cult is treated.
You might be kicked out, spat on, lied about, slighted, run down verbally to others, driven from the group and silenced so your light can be of little more threat.
But fear not for God has promised "I am with you always even unto the end of the age".
Furthermore:
"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
- Matthew 5:10-12
We are called to be
holy to be separate to be not conformed but transformed and, as such, we must separate ourselves from that which does not bring glory to God. Such a church where wolves lead is not holy. A holy thing is sanctified and separated for a special purpose.
In such a church we are called to "come out and be holy". So when they drive you from the church for exposing the darkness with light they are helping you fulfil the will of God.
Walking in the light requires a certain hardiness.
